She is a qualified social worker in private practice, registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as well as with the Board of Healthcare Funders (PCNS). She is furthermore internationally registered with the Traumatic Incident Reduction Association (TIRA) as a TIR Facilitator.

She obtained the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work during 1977 at the University of Pretoria and during her professional career of approximately 27 years she continued to advance her development through further education and training.

During her employment at several government departments and NGO’s she held various positions in rural, deep-rural and urban areas and therefore not only gained vast vocational experience, but also experienced the unique challenges of our country and the rich cultural composition of South Africa. 

However, as private practitioner the focus currently is on the well-being of families with specific emphasis on trauma; burnout; divorce related issues; as well as unlawful infringements (criminal acts; drug abuse etc.) 

The most recent courses attended include 'Divorce Mediation'; 'Transactional Analysis' (TA); 'Traumatic Incident Reduction' (TIR) and Burnout.

Fields of Expertise: -

Family Law:

  • Acts as guest lecturer on 'Divorce Mediation' and 'Parenting Plans' at the University of Pretoria.
  • Gained vast experience as divorce mediator at the 'Family Life Centre' Parkwood; Johannesburg.
  • Often co-mediates with family lawyers.
  • Assists with divorce mediation at the 'Centre of Independence' Pretoria.
  • Assists Family Lawyers with the investigation of the circumstances of either children and/or parents and/or care-givers as well as with the preparation of court reports in accordance with the Children's Act 38 of 2005.

Criminal and Criminal Procedural Law:

  • Over a period of 17 years, prepared hundreds of pre-sentence reports - either as a Probation Officer, a Correctional Officer or as a Private Practitioner.

Trauma:

  • Deals specifically with the victims of crime.
  • Group debriefings at corporate institutions.
  • Vast experience in 'Restorative Justice' and 'Victim Offender Mediation' practices.
